  • Sep. 12th, 2008 at 12:43 AM
I'm on my last volunteer, I need you, please let me interview you.

Name: Kieli
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Location: Michigan
Job: Unemployed

What has been the most painful experience in your life? When my grandmother died, I had gone home at 3 A.M. to come home and get sleep, when I went back at around 4 P.M that same day she was in critical condition, a few hours later she died. I felt horrid, because I hadn't been spending as much time with her as I did when I was younger.

Where would you like to live? I would like to live in a different country, possibly England, but I wouldn't want to stay there, traveling every few years would be nice.

What are your views on things going on in the world around us:

Gay marriage - I believe it should be legalized everywhere, people should be able to marry who they love, no matter the gender.

Abortion - I feel that it should be the choice of the woman, it's her body, her baby.

War in Iraq - I don't believe in war, I think there could be better ways to solve our conflicts.

Mind telling us who you are/would vote for? If I could vote, I would most likely vote for Obama, although I would like more background information on both candidates than I currently have.

Do you know anyone in the military? Yes.

How has that effected your view on the war? It hasn't really impacted it.

What inspires you? The work of others, the feeling of accomplishment, and art in general.

How do you feel about marriage? I believe that although marriage is a union of two people in love, it doesn't prove they love each other any more than those who are not married.

What are your religious beliefs? I'm an atheist.

What do you like most about yourself? I like that I am creative and colorful.

Views on the death penalty? Unsure, I don't know if I think we should have it or not, on one side they deserve what they gave, on the other side, two wrongs don't make a right.

Tell us your favorite book, movie, color, food, month, etc.: Book: Abarat - Clive Barker, Movie: Hairspray (old), Color: Rainbows (don't have one favorite color), Food: Fake meat (tofu: Boca, Morningstar), Month: October, I love halloween, Band: Motion City Soundtrack, Season: Winter.

Who is your celebrity crush? I think Johnny Depp is attractive, but I don't think he is super 'hot' or anything.

Who is your hero? My hero is my former Mythology teacher, ms. eddy, I love how her name has no capital letters (legally), and I love how she is so in tune with nature. She incredibly unique and gives me the feeling that I could change the world.

Tell us something you find embarrassing about yourself; The fact that I snort when I laugh, quite loud at times.

What's the best thing that has ever happened to you? The first thing that comes to mind is my boyfriend, even though it's high school romance, I feel happier than I've ever been.

Tell us a story, any story at all (make one up, even, if you want to) in a paragraph. I used to have two best friends, with the same name, spelled differently, Ashleigh and Ashley. We were all at Ashleigh's house, because it was summer and we were having a sleepover. We decided that we wanted to take a trip to a grocery store that is a few miles away from her house, it was two in the morning. We ended up walking there and getting random food, like granola bars and cheese. Then we walked all the way back to her house. It doesn't sound very interesting, but it was so random, that it was fun and memorable.

Some mid-level questions:

What are your views on the power of music? I believe that music has deep emotion and can easily show how a person is feeling, I also think that when listening to music, it can change the feelings of the listener.

How many kids do you want? I would love two to three children.

How do you view the war on drugs? I believe that no matter how hard we try, we can never stop everyone from doing illegal drugs.

What is the one thing that can cheer you up, no matter the situation? Cartoons, they make me smile.

Where do see yourself in 5 years? In 5 years, I see myself in college, working towards a degree in psychology.

What do you wish most people would realize about themselves? I wish people would realize that although they can't see the beauty and intelligence in themselves, there is always someone who can.

What was your state of mind during this interview? Thoughtful, yet slightly distracted.

Leave us with a quote?
"Individual human beings are all tools, that the others use to help us all survive."
